DIOXIN AND PCBs
Dioxins are an environmental pollutant that is part of a group of dangerous chemicals known as persistent organic pollutants (POPs). Dioxin is soluble in fat and is very stable in the environment; even bacteria is not able to hydrolyze it. Dioxin is not biologically natural, but rather a byproduct of industrial processes which is formed by the combustion of chemical compounds containing Clorine. which can also occur naturally from volcanic eruptions or forest fires. A group of persistent organic pollutants (POP) is made up of: Dioxin (75 congeners with 7 indicator toxic), Furan (135 toxic congener with 10 indicator) and PCB (congeners 209 with 12 indicators of dl-dioxin). All three are highly toxic, but when compared between the three levels of toxicity, it would be : dibenzo-p-dioxin > dibenzofuran > dl-PCB dioxin. PT Angler Biochemlab provides the following tests:
